Casa adds to housing supply
Quality accessible homes for up to 10 NDIS participants will soon be available in Alice Springs thanks to a major investment by Casa.
With accessible homes in short supply across the NT, Casa has retrofitted five brick units it owns in East Side to cater specifically to wheelchair users.
Casa CEO Rachel Choy said Casa was proud to bring more accessible housing to the thin local market.
“As a locally grown disability support provider with a long history of service in Alice Springs, this is just another step in affirming Casa’s mission and purpose to serve and support people with disability in our local community,” she said.
After consultation with DKJ Architects, planners and builders, Edifice Constructions began building works on the $350,000 project in May 2022.
The five units – three with two bedrooms and two with three-bedrooms – are in a quiet street close to town and feature wide doorways, ramps, accessible bathrooms, ducted heating and cooling, and courtyards.
Four units will be available to NDIS Supported Independent Living (SIL) participants soon.
